20 November 2025; Finally, the third string of solar panels have been installed, ready for the Australian summer.
There are a total of 14 panels that can extract up to 2.7kW per hour from the sun. Even when there's full cloud cover, the panels still extract energy from the sun.
The third string is connected to a Victron 150/35 SmartSolar MPPT controller.
The solar panels were mounted onto standard cyclone proof solar panel rails, so if there's ever a need to upgrade the panels, we can simply unbolt them, mount the new ones, and plug them straight in.
The air conditioner can now be run all day during those hot days, as well as running all onboard systems that power our vision. There's even enough power to charge the batteries (now 10kW) with all systems online.
